                   Outside Directors AML Course

Overview
Outside directors face a special challenge in today’s regulatory  environment.  While directors may not have first hand knowledge of the banks everyday operations because they are not employees of the bank, they are expected to be just as knowledgeable about the bank’s AML program, its effectiveness, and any potential problems as management and the compliance department.

As stated in the FFIEC manual:  “It is the responsibility of the board of directors to monitor management’s adherance to approved policies and procedures and applicable laws, rules, and regulations, and to monitor exceptions to approved policies and procedures.”

Course Highlights

  • How can an Outside Director be certain he or she knows what is happening inside the bank?
  • What can Outside Director do to protect themselves & avoid being part of an AML/BSA problem at the bank?
  • What are the critical questions that Outside Directors should ask management and auditors about the bank’s AML/BSA compliance activities?
